The Naxnbauer is a short walk from the Hofbrauhaus in the Marienplatz area of downtown Munich.  This is the place to go for deep fried pork knuckles.  I have never found these in the US but are very common in Germany.  Basically it is a deep fried pork hock.  The outside skin/fat is fried to a crisp and the pork meet is very tender.  My order came with coleslaw with bacon.  How can you go wrong with that.  I paired it with a Sanwald Hefeweizen which was perfect.

Not much else to say about this great place for dinner.  Most bars in Munich are restaurant/pubs and don’t typically have a spot to “belly up” to the bar.  When traveling alone for business, I like to just go to the bar so you can talk to the bartender to get local advice on other great places to visit.  Unfortunately this isn’t that common in Germany.  There are some bars like this but they are more the nigh club kind of bars.
