Cycle Brewing is a relatively new brewery located on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg.  Brewery Doug Dozark was brewing at Peg’s Cantina in Gulfport and now has his own brewery that opened in St. Petersburg in August of 2013.  This was my first visit to Cycle Brewing.  I have had their “Fixie” session IPA at Willard’s Tap House and Stein & Vine and have always rated it highly on Untapp’d (3.5-4.0/5.0).

They don’t offer paddles but will let you sample the beers.  I tried the following beers:

untappd

I rated the Freewheel Session IPA a 2.5/5.0 but this was an error. Should have been a 3.0/5.0.  Untapp’d notes this an American Pale Ale probably because they don’t have a session IPA category.  I prefer the Fixie Session over the Freewheel just because it is more citrusy.

The Ecto-Cooliner is a traditional Berliner Weisse beer (sour low alcohol wheat beer).  These are becoming the “St. Pete” beer style.  I am starting to like these more and more although I rated this one at a 2.5/5.0.

I also tried the Crank IPA which for a 6.0% IPA was pretty good.  I rated it a 3.5/5.0.  I still like the Fixie the best because of the lower alcohol level you could drink this all night long.  Very similar to a Founders All Day IPA.

Cycle Brewery doesn’t offer food but there are several restaurants in the area and I am sure you could bring you own food in while having a couple pints.  Definitely need to add this to your brewery tour when visiting St. Pete.  Couldn’t find a website but did find a Facebook page.  Check this out for more info on their specials and events:  Cycle Brewing Facebook Page.
