The Stein & Vine is only about 10 minutes from us and is one of our favorite local craft beer places.  They also have great food and even add new items to their menu regularly so you have new dishes to try.   They have been open almost 2 years and are expanding their business because of their success.  There used to be a gun shop next door that moved out so they will be doubling their space soon.  I think they are targeting the end of the year.  This will be great because if you show up at 5:00p.m. on  a FRI or SAT, you will be waiting for a table.

We stopped in for a late lunch on a SAT (about 1:30p.m.).  Place was pretty full but there was an open table and a couple seats left at the bar.  We sat up to the bar and I ordered the Kentucky Bourbon Pumpkin Ale and Marnie ordered the 5 Rabbit 5 Lizard wheat beer.  I ordered a sandwich on pretzel roll and Marnie ordered the duck confit salad.  Photos above don’t do the food justice.  Both dishes were great.

I love Kentucky Bourbon Ale and thought I would try the pumpkin version since it is pumpkin beer season.  I am not usually a pumpkin beer guy because they are usually too sweet and taste like pumpkin pie in a bottle.  Having the higher alcohol (10%) along with the bourbon barrel aging actually made this more of a mild pumpkin beer.  I really enjoyed it and rated it a 3.5/5.0 on Untapp’d.  I have had the 5 Rabbit 5 Lizard wheat beer before.  Very sweet and a little sour with passion fruit flavor.  Would be a great refreshing beer by the pool on a hot day.

The Stein and Vine was voted one of the best bars in the Tampa Bay area by Tampa Bay Times.  They have a great draft and bottle beer selection and is a great place to eat.  They offer “pig wings”, a “33-1/3 burger” which is a 1/2 pound burger with 1/3 bacon.  They also have the best wedge salad I have ever had made with small iceburg lettuce heads.  Great soups, sandwiches, fish & chips, loaded tater tots and new menu items that always go good with beer.

Check out their website for more info on their food and beer menus.  www.thesteinandvine.com.  They are also on Facebook where they usually post their daily menu.  I will add another post once the new expansion is up and running.  Check them out next time you are in Brandon.
