If you want to try something similar to the Hofbrauhaus, then the Augustiner Keller brewery/restaurant is a great spot.  Large beer hall but they also have bars in the basement in the lagering cellars.  We didn’t eat here but they serve traditional German food that looked great.  I had the Augustiner hefeweizen and Augustiner Helles which were good.  I am noticing that the German style beers are typically all very similar.  A hefe is a hefe and a helles is a helles.  Some slight differences probably with the yeast but I assume the grains are all very similar.

Great location if you are in Munich and are looking for a traditional German beer hall.  This place was packed on a THUR night in MAR.  Can’t imagine what it looks like during Oktoberfest.  For more info visit their website at:  http://www.augustinerkeller.de/home/?L=1
