This is a good stop if you are in Phillipsburg for the day from a cruise or on the island for the week like we were.  It is on Front street which is the shopping area of Phillipsburg just behind boardwalk which is the ocean view restaurant/shop area.  OK, so there isn’t any beer here but you can purchase a rum punch or rum colada for $7 and enjoy a great cocktail while walking around Phillipsburg.  The punch is made from their flagship “Guavaberry” rum.  The Guava berry is grown on the island and is green when not ripe and ripens in two colors orange and red/black.  Apparently there is a 50/50 mix of orange and red/black and there is a slight difference in flavor between the two.  The punch is very nice and the emporium sells several flavors of this rum including: guavaberry, old orajestad, vaanilla, mango, island almond, and passion fruit.  They also produce aged Republic Rums (5 year and 8 year) that are good sipping rums or mixing rums.  The store sells these in small sampler packs or in 1 liter packages.  They also sell hot sauces and have rum bottles with hand paintings on them that are a nice souvenir.  You can find Guavaberry all over the island but you also need to stop in their emporium in Phillipsburg to your souvenirs as well as a “walk around” rum punch or colada.   You can find out more info at www.guavaberry.com.
