Bamberg is a great beer town and kind of falls under the radar for most people looking for great beer cities. I learned of this great town from a colleague in Stuttgart. We did two overnights in the area giving us one full day in Bamberg. Our first brewery stop was Mahr’s Brau which was about a 20 min walk from the Best Western we stayed at in Bamberg. By the way, I travel to Germany a few times a year and our room at the Best Western was the largest hotel room I have ever had in Germany. It is a good home base if you want to check out the breweries. Anyway, we just had their flagship pilsner. They produce several beers: unfiltered pilsner, standard pilsner, helles lager, weisse, radler, dark, bock and even a light beer. Light beer in Germany (and also in Australia) means lower in Alcohol.
