Pokey’s Rock & Rolls is a great new British Pub located in downtown Tampa.  It is in the location of the old “Loading dock” sandwich bar.  It is run by two Brits that came to Tampa on holiday and thought they would open a British Pub.  We stopped into Pokey’s on the way home from the Hub on hot SUN afternoon and it is becoming one of our favorite spots downtown.  The owner’s Rachel and Mark are really nice and they are working hard to get people to come to their bar.  “Pokey” is Mark’s nickname because of his last name “Pokock”.  The funny thing is Rachel said that in the UK, Pokey is a very positive expression of someone who is popular and “pokes” people.  In the US, pokey means slow.  Well, they are definitely not slow and they have a great food menu, beer selection and events going on every night.  They have a beer & wine license at the moment with 20 beers/ciders/wines available and are hoping in the future to have a full liquor bar.  Our pirate krewe has named this their new home bar and we have started coming to their TUE live trivia.  SUN we are going to try their brunch which is a full English breakfast.  They have a nice burger, grilled cheese and sandwich menu.  They cut their fries from potatoes and they are great.  They have loyalty cards for food and drinks and have a great happy hour.  Check them out before an event downtown or stop in for their many events.  You can find out more by visiting their website.  They have their food/drink menus and event calendar.  http://www.pokeysrr.com/.  Maybe we will see you there.  I will be the guy sitting at the bar drinking Coppertail Free Dive.
