Here is another new bar/restaurant in Port Austin, MI that was only open for 2 weeks when we visited in June. For those that know Port Austin, it is located in the old boat shop on M25 just east of M53 (Main street). It is the same building as Port Austin Kayak. Port Austin Kayak is on the right and Pak’s Backyard Cafe and Beer Garden is on the left. This is the only spot in Port Austin where you can drink and eat while overlooking Bird Creek and Lake Huron. They have indoor and outdoor seating, four beers on draft and several craft beers in bottles and cans. They also have food (burgers/sandwiches). We didn’t eat because we were on our way back to our place from the Bird Creek tap room. On this Saturday, Port Austin had a Porch Festival where 25 homes had entertainment on their porches. Beautiful day and great weather. We will definitely be back to Pak’s Backyard Cafe and Beer Garden. Always tough to have a successful business in Port Austin because you have to make your money between Memorial Day and Labor Day so I hope they survive.
