This is a new brewery in the Tampa Bay area that opened in October 2015. It is a 15 barrel brewery that is located in a renovated 1963 auto body paint shop a couple blocks from main street in Safety Harbor. Their website says that the name “Crooked Thumb” is related to the shape of Pinellas County and how it hangs off the west coast of Florida like a crooked thumb. They also note that it ties in well with their “hand” crafted beers.
The tasting room has a large air conditioned space (which was great when we visited on a hot day in July) but also has their own beer garden. They had a food truck that just arrived when we got there on a SAT afternoon and they have 17 beers on draft. I took a picture of the beer list but they also have a good list on their website of their flagship beers.
I tried their berliner, gose, pale ale and session IPA. My Untapp’d checkins’ are noted below:
I liked their Street Dog Pale Ale and Florida Grapefruit Gose the best but need to go back and try some of the others. Check them out if you are in the area. Great location and great space. http://crookedthumbbrew.com/
