Bluejacket Brewery is located in the Navy yard in a building built in 1919 that was known as the boiler maker shops.  It was part of the Navy Yards ship and munitions manufacturing complex.  I was in DC for a meeting and took a Lyft from my hotel near the Walter E. Washington Convention Center which only took about 15 minutes.  Bluejacket is near the National’s baseball park so I would suggest checking if there is a game before going because I would imagine this place would be very popular during game day.  The location has 5,600 sq. ft., has a production capacity of 5,000 barrels, has 19 unique fermentation vessels, and has two barrel rooms with capacity of over 60 barrels.  They have 20 draft Bluejacket lager/ales on tape and 5 Bluejacket cask ales.  They also have 5 different temperature zones to serve your beer at the appropriate temperature.  They also have a nice food menu.  My favorite spot in DC is Churchkey and looking at the Bluejacket website, it says that their Beer Director (Greg  Engert) is actually a managing partner in Churchkey.  Probably why the beer and food is so awesome at Bluejacket.  I have noted my Untapp’d checkins below and ordered the Falafel burger  (which was pretty good).  I also had one of the best IPL’s I have ever had.  Nice hop level.
This place is a definite “must visit” for beer geeks when they are in DC. Check out their website for more info. www.bluejacketdc.com.
