I had to make a short trip to Kansas City for a conference and found this little gem about 4 blocks from my hotel (not far from Kansas City Convention Center). I checked their website http://www.beerknurd.com/stores/kansascity/ and didn’t realize they were a chain but it definitely didn’t feel like a chain. 79 draft beers and over 200 bottles so there is definitely something that you will like here. MON nights they have $3 pints on special drafts. I was there on a WED and got there before 7:00 p.m. so fell within their 4-7 happy hour for $1 off my first draft. It was also River North Brewery (Colorado) Night so you could get a snifter or pint glass for $3 if you purchased one of their beers. Flying Saucer also has a beer club called “beerknurds” where you pay $18, get a free t-shirt and a magnetic card to log in your beers. I didn’t see the requirement on the website but it appears when you hit a certain level (maybe 200) then you get your own “saucer” that gets displayed in the bar. There were hundreds on the wall and ceiling already. I started with a Schlafly ABA dry hopped American Pale Ale which was really good. My Untapp’d checkins are shown below:
I would definitely come back to this bar. It was rated 95 on rate beer for beer bars in Kansas City so it is one of the best. Check it out next time you are in town.
