Fodder & Shine is on N. Florida Avenue just north of a couple of other great craft beer spots in Tampa (The Independent and Brew Bus). It was started in 2014 by the owners of the Refinery restaurant in Tampa. I have pasted the description of their food from their website: “Cracker cuisine is a tribute to old school Florida culture and the would-be cowboys who populated our state in the early- to mid-1900s. It draws heavy influence from the Scottish, Irish, African and Spanish cultures, but few recipes were ever recorded. We pored through regional vintage cookbooks and sought oral pioneer histories from multi-generational Florida Crackers to garner inspiration and unique insight into Florida’s “back woods” culture of the time.
We stopped in on a FRI in time for happy hour which is $1 off drafts and $2 off wells. We just got some pimento cheese spread as an appetizer and I had a beer from Green Bench and Funky Budha (Untapp’d checkin’s below).
They have a great food menu, awesome bar and great outdoor space. Check it out the next time you are in the area. They have great comfort food like grilled meatloaf, cornmeal fried chicken, country fried steak, rabbit & dumplings, and hardwood smoked mullet. You can find their food and drink menu at their website. http://www.fodderandshine.com/
