We were in Ocean Springs, MS over the past weekend helping move my mother in-law into a new place. After move day they suggested we have a few beers at Government Street Grocery located downtown in Ocean Springs. This is a great spot that opened in April 2005 as a bar, restaurant and spot for local music. We didn’t eat but did sample several craft beers. My favorite is shown above, the Lazy Magnolia Timber Beast Rye IPA. This is an excellent locally brewed beer with a great hop flavor and wasn’t too boozy. Downtown Ocean Springs, MS is becoming a trendy location on the coast with lots of restaurants and pubs. If you are in the area trying your luck at the casinos in Biloxi, you should make the trip across the bridge to Ocean Springs and check out the Government Street Grocery.
